Hollywood takes on polyamory
And it's 'sexy' and 'violent.' Plus: 'Big Tit Energy,' too much Pedro, 'love's elusiveness,' and more in the weekend roundup.
Happy Sunday!
A programming note: I’m on vacation next week, so no weekend roundup that Sunday, but all will be back to normal the following week.
In this weekend’s roundup, we’ve got the movie equivalent of “a female orgasm,” Pedro Pascal overexposure, a sneaky tease of something I’ve been working on, and more.

Splitsville, starring Dakota Johnson, just premiered at Cannes. It’s billed as “an absurdist exploration of open marriages that goes from sexy to violent.” Hmmm. The premise: A married couple—Ashley and Carey—head to their friends’ beach house. On the way, Ashley announces she wants a divorce. At the getaway, they learn that their friends, Julie and Paul, are in an open relationship. “The discovery of this dynamic—its freedom, its pitfalls—opens both Carey’s and Ashley’s minds, just as it’s presenting fresh challenges to Julie and Paul’s marriage,” reports Vanity Fair. “Before long, all hell breaks loose.” Looks like the polyamory discourse will be revving back up at the end of this summer with the film’s theatrical release.
