Who are you?

Let’s pretend that I always compose this newsletter in such an idyllic scene.

I’m a journalist and author of the memoir Want Me: A Sex Writer's Journey into the Heart of Desire (Penguin, 2021). It’s a sexual coming-of-age memoir that NPR called a best book of the year. New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Traister called Want Me "intimate, challenging, and so very smart… a gift.” Peggy Orenstein, author of Girls & Sex, said it’s “crucially important.”

I often get messages from young women saying that my book changed their lives.

I've written for Cosmopolitan, Elle, Esquire, Jezebel, Marie Claire, Salon, The Guardian, Women's Health, and many others. I’ve spent a good chunk of my more than 16-year career writing feminist commentary and reporting on sex, which has brought me everywhere from porn sets to a sex robot factory to the darkest depths of the manosphere. My work has shown up in the Best Sex Writing anthology and I’m “one of the best journalists of our generation writing about sexuality,” according to Tristan Taormino.
