So thrilled to read this, and I cannot wait to pre-order and read the book.
Just this morning I went down the rabbit hole of Mary Husted's experience with forced relocated birth and adoption after reading Fiona McKenzie Johnston's piece about her. This phenomenon has been weighing on my heart all day and then I see this...
Yessssss! So excited for this book to be in the world, teaching us all something about the past and present that we really really need to know. Thanks for being so brave and visionary and nuanced in all you do.
really looking forward to the book, and would love an opportunity to talk via email or something. I come at adoption from a very different angle -- given up at birth by people who later married and had 2 more biological children. I've met my birth mother once (more than a decade ago), my birth father is dead, and i have no real way of reconstructing that past.
I'm so glad to hear that you're looking forward to it. You can always hit "reply" to my newsletter from your inbox and and it'll land in my inbox—I'd be happy to pass along any resources that might be relevant, and to commiserate, too, in just how hard and sometimes maddeningly impossible it is to reconstruct these pasts. <3
Congrats! Looking forward to it
Thank youuuu!

Thank you, it’s so nice to hear that! Also, now I need to look up this article you mention!
Gosh my night brain! It was actually Katy Hessel who wrote that! https://open.substack.com/pub/katyhessel/p/the-power-of-art
I cannot WAIT. The world most definitely needs this book. And we need YOU to be the one to write it.
Make me CRY why don't you! Thanks, Devon. That truly means so much.
